The JBL 4208 console-top monitor speakers are designed specifically for use in the near field. The 4208 brings a new look, a new sound and a new standard to the multi-purpose studio environment. Starting with the unique Multi-Radial sculptured baffle, the JBL 4208 monitors direct the axial output of the individual components for optimum summing at the most common listening distance of approximately 1 to 1.5 meters. The Multi-Radial baffle also positions the transducers to achieve alignment of their acoustic centers so that low, mid and high frequency information reaches the listener's ears at the same point in time, resulting in superb imaging and greatly reduced phase distortion. The components also feature magnetic shielding making the 4200 Series monitors ideal for use in video post production facilities as well as music recording studios. Bass response lives up to JBL's reputation.
It's smooth and accurate bass goes all the way down around 40Hz. It's mids and highs are so clear it makes the listener realise just what he has been missing out on all these years. Cymbals come alive and the listener is able to hear the background instruments much more distinctly like the auxillary precussion instruments such as shakers and tambors. Overall the JBL 4208 speakers sound brilliant. They are perfect for studio applications and critical listening.
